# A General terms of participation

§ 1 Subject and conduct

  1. (1)
As part of the Swiss Indoors Basel 2026, Swiss Indoors AG is organising an interactive Tennis-Volley-Challenge together with IWB Industrielle Werke Basel.
  2. (2)
The sporting conduct is provided by TIF Tennis Academy GmbH. The participants are looked after, and the valid balls are counted, by a tennis coach.
  3. (3)
The digital challenge platform is provided and operated technically by NAVVIGATION.com.
  4. (4)
The aim of the competition is to play as many valid volleys over the net as possible within 30 seconds.
  5. (5)
The results are recorded digitally and shown on a public leaderboard.
  6. (6)
Participation follows prior digital registration and then personal participation on the court.
  7. (7)
Taking part in the challenge is free of charge. Any admission to the event follows the conditions of entry of the Swiss Indoors Basel.
  8. (8)
The winners are determined on the basis of the sporting results achieved. If scores are tied, the provisions on the draw apply.
  9. (9)
The separately published official rules govern the sporting conduct.

§ 2 Eligibility

  1. (1)
Natural persons aged 12 and over are eligible to take part, regardless of their country of residence.
  2. (2)
For participants who are minors, the organiser's requirements for the consent of a legal representative apply.
  3. (3)
The details given on registration must be complete and true.
  4. (4)
Each participant may register only once. The personal participation ID remains valid for repeated attempts.
  5. (5)
Repeated participation during opening hours is permitted.
  6. (6)
The organiser may exclude persons if there are justified doubts about their eligibility or if the terms of participation are breached.
  7. (7)
Whether employees of the organisations involved may win prizes follows the provisions laid down by the organiser.

§ 3 Registration

  1. (1)
Participation requires prior registration on the official digital challenge platform.
  2. (2)
Registration takes place via a link or by scanning a QR code.
  3. (3)
The following personal details are collected on registration:
    • First name
    • Last name
    • E-mail address
  4. (4)
After successful registration, a unique personal participation ID is created.
  5. (5)
The participation ID is used to identify the participant at the court and to assign the results uniquely.
  6. (6)
The same participation ID is used for further attempts.
  7. (7)
Registration entitles the participant to take part within the available capacity. There is no right to a particular playing time.
  8. (8)
Registration and participation are possible independently of consent to later marketing communication.

§ 4 Procedure of the Tennis-Challenge

  1. (1)
The challenge takes place on a tennis court of approximately 5 × 10 metres.
  2. (2)
The participant plays together with a tennis coach from TIF Tennis Academy GmbH.
  3. (3)
    Each attempt lasts 30 seconds.
  4. (4)
The aim is to play as many valid balls volley over the net as possible within that time.
  5. (5)
Every volley played correctly over the net counts as one point.
  6. (6)
Each attempt ends at the first fault, and the next player takes their turn.
  7. (7)
The tennis coach decides which balls are to be used, for example for children the red, orange or green stage, depending on age.
  8. (8)
The valid volleys are counted by hand by the tennis coach.
  9. (9)
The tennis coach decides whether a volley played is valid. That decision governs the score.
  10. (10)
The count ends when the 30 seconds have elapsed. The 30 seconds do not have to be used up if a fault has already ended the attempt.
  11. (11)
One attempt is allowed per round. During the opening hours of the challenge, any number of further participations is possible.
  12. (12)
Only the best valid result within the relevant competition period counts for the leaderboard.
  13. (13)
The supervising staff record the score digitally and assign it to the personal participation ID.
  14. (14)
An attempt with zero points can also be recorded as a result.
  15. (15)
Participants undertake to follow the instructions of the tennis coach and the event staff.
  16. (16)
In the event of unforeseen interruptions, the event staff decide whether an attempt may be repeated.
  17. (17)
The official rules of the Swiss Indoors × IWB Tennis-Volley-Challenge 2026 also apply. If the description of the procedure in these terms differs from the official rules, the rules prevail.
  18. (18)
There will be times when the court is used for games or training other than the Volley Challenge. Staff on site will then say so.

§ 5 Leaderboard and determination of winners

  1. (1)
The valid results are recorded on the digital challenge platform and brought together in a leaderboard.
  2. (2)
Places are based on the number of valid points. The higher the score, the better the place.
  3. (3)
For each participant, only the best valid result within the relevant competition period counts.
  4. (4)
The public leaderboard is updated continuously.
  5. (5)
The public leaderboard shows the following details:
    • First name
    • Initial of the last name
    • Personal participation ID
    • Best result
  6. (6)
The full last name and the e-mail address are not shown publicly.
  7. (7)
If several participants achieve the same score, they are ranked equally.
  8. (8)
If a tie is decisive for the award of a prize, the winners are determined by a draw.
  9. (9)
Separate rankings are kept for the two competition phases. Only the results achieved within the relevant phase count.
  10. (10)
The winners are determined after the end of the relevant competition phase.
  11. (11)
The organiser checks and releases the final leaderboard.
  12. (12)
The organiser may correct or annul results that are obviously incorrect or have been achieved in breach of the rules.
